JOHANNESBURG – The water supply system in Gauteng continues to run low and Rand Water has cautioned residents to use water sparingly. Rand Water spokesperson Justice Mohale said high temperatures would affect the City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

“Persistent high temperatures in Rand Water’s area of supply continue to strain its bulk water supply system.” Mohale added that the lack of rainfall in Gauteng was exacerbating the situation. He added that

although the reservoirs rose to 49 percent this week, they continued to operate at very low levels and put pressure on water supply.

Rand Water has asked residents to use water sparingly and responsibly.
