CAPE TOWN – Capetonians not adhering to water restrictions could face fines of over R1,000.

Level two restrictions have been in place since the beginning of the year.

The City Of Cape Town’s Ernest Sonnenberg says they’re aimed at forcing residents to save at least 20 percent of their water usage.

“A fine could be R1,500 or more. The severity will determine the amount of the fine.”
